When you are on a European Getaway, let’s be honest, flying is the most convenient option as it is usually quicker. Lisbon

Lisbon, Portugal’s capital, is a great starting point and three days is recommended here to take in the sites and try the local cuisine. As I am sure you are aware, you will want some downtime to relax and spoil yourself. While you are in Lisbon, take a trip to Alfama and Graca, and be sure to visit the Castelo de Sao Jorge.

Arrabida

Along the south coast lies the Setubal cape in Arrabida. Here you will find parks, contrasted by beaches with majestic golden sand washing up against the green cliffs. Wherever you are along the Arrabida coastline, you are sure to be in the company of a picturesque view which you will never forget. Be aware that during the drive to Arrabida, you will encounter a one-way road, so you must begin the drive in Setubal. Finally, parking, we all know parking is a nightmare and this road is definitely no exception. People park along this road, making it quite difficult to navigate through if you are passing through, it is recommended to arrive in the morning to enjoy firstly a prestige parking spot, but also to beat the crowds. 

Comporta

This majestic hidden gem in the Alentejo region comprises of some of the finest and untouched coastlines in the world. The coastal city of Comporta ranges from 15km of beach to rough plains and rice fields, meaning there are heaps to explore here. This stop can also be used to just relax and unwind after a hectic trip of exploring and countless hours trying to communicate with locals. Also interesting to note, the Royal Family of Monaco make this region home in the summer-time, so you know it must be good. 

Arrifana

This view is fit for a postcard, and when you see it for yourself, you will understand. Praia da Arrifana is a must-see on your road-trip, as well as the local restaurant which serves fresh, local produce. 

Faro

What better way to end an amazing and unforgettable road-trip than exploring the world-renowned Faro. Known for its pristine clear waters, and the rocky landscape is it a perfect place to both relax and work off the local food by hiking.

  1. Definitely rent a car once you're there. An obvious, often misunderstood example is buying versus leasing a car. The decision to buy or lease a car seems like one of preference: Would you rather always drive a new car at a relatively low monthly payment or finance a car that you’ll someday own outright?
